爆能科技工业公司是银河系三大军火制造公司之一，梅尔-松和索罗苏布是它的主要竞争对手。爆能科技是民用能量武器和轻型火炮制造领域的市场领导者。爆能枪类武器是爆能科技最著名的产品，不过该公司也生产多种舰载武器，包括涡轮激光炮、离子炮和导弹。

克隆战争期间，爆能科技为共和国的克隆士兵提供了他们的尖端武器。帝国掌权时期，爆能科技被迫与帝国军方签署了独占协议，但企业领导层仍坚持维持其向所有持有信用点的顾客销售武器的既定政策。因此，在银河内战期间，义军手中也拥有大量爆能科技武器。尽管与当时各大主要银河公司均被帝国的全面控制所支配相比，爆能科技具有相对明显的独立性，但其著名的E-11爆能步枪成为了帝国标准配枪，也是深受恐怖的帝国冲锋队喜爱的武器。许多其他爆能科技设计也被纳入帝国武器库中，由于其功能广泛且经久耐用，许多设计甚至延续到帝国残余与第二帝国时期。爆能科技集团是爆能科技工业公司的下属部门，主要负责制造民用及军用爆能枪类武器。
